Hi, my name is Leon van Zyl. I have been playing guitar for over 25 years and I have been  teaching the guitar for more than 15 years. I have attained a Teaching Licentiate and Grade 8 Guitar. I have taught countless students, from beginner to Grade 8 level. 

The guitar has been my friend since I was a child. It has helped me express myself, entertain crowds and  put bread on my table. From playing with my own band, being hired to play for projects or playing solo instrumental music at events, I combine playing experience with my teaching knowledge to give learners the tools they will need in real world situations. 

You or your child  can also share in this joy by learning to play the Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Bass Guitar or Ukulele. 

I keep a weekly learner journal to track progress and make sure that all bases get covered. I emphasise good technique from day one while also getting learners to engage in a musical way early on. 

Styles include Blues, Rock, Metal, Pop, Latin, Flamenco, Contemporary, Funk and so much more. 

Learners get to  play great songs, improvise, apply theory and fretboard knowledge and learn how to use modern music equipment and technology. 

Learners can also play their Rockshcool exams in person or via a recorded video that gets submitted for marking.
